Gel manicure vs polish manicure

Did you know that the face and hands are the first body parts that people look at when they meet new people. Painting nails as part of a beauty routine originated in China dating back to 3,000 BC. They would make a mixture that included beeswaxegg whitesgelatin, vegetable dyes, and gum Arabic.

Why get gels? Gels are classed as an artificial nail enhancement that look more glossy and natural than acrylics. They last around 2-3 weeks but only take minutes to dry as they are chemically cured with uv/led lights. Having gels means the colour is less likely to chip, they are great to have on when growing out your natural nails as they add a layer of protection which helps prevents the nail from breaking. Because they are chemically cured they can’t be removed like a normal polish using remover, they need to be removed with acetone by someone who knows what they are doing ( please don’t do it at home if you don’t).

So if gels are so good, why use polish? For a start you can’t change gel on a whim like you can with polish if you don’t want to commit to one colour. because nail polish isn’t as expensive as gels, a polish manicure doesn’t cost as much and if you have steady enough hands to do it yourself then it costs even less. Unfortunately polish takes a total of 2 hours for it to dry so wait till you have time to chill while they dry.
